Shakira Says a Collab With Taylor Swift Would Be ‘Un Lujazo’
The promotion of Shakira’s new album, “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran,” has taken an unexpected turn. At a recent press conference with Spanish-language media, the “Hips Don’t Lie” singer indicated there are collaborations she wouldn’t rule out.
Responding to a reporter’s question about a duet she’d like to do, Shakira said, “Taylor [Swift] would be un lujazo (a luxury).”
And fans went nuts. After all, Shakira’s new album is full of collaborations with talents like Cardi B, Rauw Alejandro, Karol H, and Fuerza Regida. However, a duet with Taylor Swift would be the ultimate crossover.
“[A collaboration between Shakira and Swift] would dominate the charts for sure,” said one user on X (former Twitter.)
“Taylor would do it in a heartbeat,” said another, sharing a video of Taylor Swift’s reactions to Shakira’s VMA performance.
“They would make a hit,” said another.
Would a collab be possible?
While some commented that Shakira and Taylor Swift are “like water and oil,” the general opinion is that it would be an epic moment in music.
And maybe it’s not so far-fetched. After all, both artists are the queens of heartbreak in popular music. Plus, Shakira loved watching Taylor dance to the beat of her song “Whenever, Whenever” so much that she uploaded the clip to Instagram and said it was a “real treat” to see the singer having such a good time.
Still, while fans speculate, both artists enjoy being on top of the world with their respective careers, weathering heartbreak like true queens.
