Meet The Latina Creative Behind the Jonas Brothers’ Most Beloved Tour Merch
Jennifer Enciso is truly living out her childhood dream. As a self-proclaimed ‘Joe girl’ who grew up listening to the Jonas Brothers, she never imagined that her passion for design and music would one day lead her to work with one of her favorite bands. But that’s exactly what happened.
Growing up, Enciso was a devoted fan of the Jonas Brothers, eagerly anticipating their albums. Their music was the soundtrack to her adolescence, and the band became a part of her identity. She’d spend hours listening to their songs. Little did she know that these moments would not only shape her fandom but also ignite a spark for something much bigger.
As a young artist, Enciso’s love for design blossomed in tandem with her admiration for the Jonas Brothers. Her creative journey began with an impulse to blend her two loves, music and art, into something uniquely her own. She began creating vibrant, one-of-a-kind designs that reflected everything she loved: fun, color, and individuality. Early on, she used social media to share her work, from tour posters to merch concepts for the artists she admired, including the Jonas Brothers. It wasn’t just practice. It was her way of connecting to her passion, even if it was just in the digital space.
From Jonas Brothers Fan to Designer in the Making
Then, in June 2023, life threw her a curveball that would change everything. Just a month after graduating with a degree in design, Enciso received an email that left her in disbelief.
Someone from the Jonas Brothers’ merch team had discovered her work online and was interested in collaborating. The opportunity to design for one of her favorite bands was, in her words, “a dream come true.”
“I feel like I manifested working with one of my favorite bands. When my boyfriend and I went to our first concert, I saw all the t-shirts and merch and couldn’t believe this was an actual job. After that, I became fascinated with music and merch.” That moment ignited a fire in her. She knew that she had to create something that would make people feel the way she did in that moment.
Designing for the Jonas Brothers Felt Like a Dream Come True
Her designs for the band’s Five Albums. One Night. The World Tour were such a hit that she was invited back to create exclusive merch for the Jonas20: Greetings From Your Hometown Tour. Fans have shown overwhelming support for her work, with concertgoers proudly sporting the merch she designed, a testament to how her creations have become a beloved part of the Jonas Brothers’ legacy.
“Honestly, I’m still in awe that I got to work with them, and now, getting to contribute to their current tour feels surreal,” she says. “To see fans wear something I created, it’s an indescribable feeling. It feels like full-circle validation.”
Bringing Her Heritage to the Global Stage
For Enciso, her work isn’t just about creating visually appealing designs; it’s about telling stories, evoking emotions, and making meaningful connections. Being Mexican-American plays a significant role in her creative process, as she draws constant inspiration from her cultural roots. The vibrant colors and intricate details found in everyday life in Mexico, everything from hand-painted signs to the hues of clothing, are woven into her designs, infusing them with the energy and spirit of her heritage.
Growing up, Enciso didn’t often see artists or designers who looked like her, and now she’s determined to fill that gap. “I want to be the representation for someone else who feels like they don’t belong in these spaces,” she says. “If my work can inspire even one person to chase their dreams, then I’ve done my job.” Looking ahead, Enciso dreams of continuing to collaborate with artists who inspire her, particularly Latin female artists like Kali Uchis, The Marías, Julieta Venegas, and Carla Morrison. Her ambition is to elevate Latinidad in the art world while also empowering and uplifting other women. Being a girls’ girl is at the core of who she is. “I want to work with as many Latin female artists as possible, because that’s where my heart is.”
“And if we’re dreaming big,” she adds with a smile, “I’d love to win a Grammy for album design one day.”
From her childhood fandom to becoming a sought-after designer for the Jonas Brothers, Jennifer Enciso’s journey is a testament to the power of passion, perseverance, and believing that anything is possible. She’s not just living her dream; she’s helping others believe in theirs, too.
