Overlook the host’s sexist jokes and the general lack of commentary on Palestine — except for you, Ray Youssef, we see you and applaud you — and the 81st Golden Globe Awards brought many celebratory and iconic moments.

The ceremony took place on January 7 at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California, and from the first glimpses of the red carpet, we were hooked.

In fact, it was one of the few awards ceremonies where you had to think twice before taking a bathroom break. In the blink of an eye, you could have missed Jennifer Lawrence’s pouting or the gossip between Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift.

And in case you missed anything, here are our favorite moments from the 2024 Golden Globe Awards.

When Brie Larson fangirled at meeting Jennifer Lopez

The actress of “The Marvels” and “Lessons in Chemistry” was all of us when she almost cried upon meeting JLo on the red carpet.

Larson was doing an interview with ET, talking about being surrounded by legends, when she realized Lopez was right behind.

“I’m living my dream,” Brie said as host Kevin Frazier pointed out JLo, to which Brie freaked out.

“Oh my god, oh my… I’m gonna cry,” she said. “I can’t deal with JLo… She’s the reason I wanted to be an actor.”

JLo then made her way up to the platform.

“You mean so much to me,” Brie said to JLo as she greeted her, gave her a hug, and said, “I’m such a huge fan.”

“I saw Selena, and it made me want to be an actor. You always meant so much to me,” Brie shared. “I just, it’s been a dream of mine, so, thank you so much. Your work ethic is so important. Thank you.”

“You’re a sweetheart, thank you,” JLo replied.

By the way, JLo showed how to answer stupid questions with class

The Latina actress appeared on the Golden Globes red carpet in a stunning custom Nicole + Felicia Couture strapless pink gown. And despite doing her best to talk about her upcoming music video and single or the career of her husband, who she was there to support, she had to deal with host Marc Malkin’s uncomfortable questions.

Malkin essentially asked Lopez how she knew her reunion with Ben Affleck was going to last since “she’s been hitched, or nearly hitched so many times.”

“When you know, you know,” Lopez said graciously. “And other times, when you didn’t know, you also didn’t know.”

Selena Gomez’s Giorgio Armani dress

The “Only Murders in the Building” star’s comeback proved that it’s not just love that suits her. Her beautiful Giorgio Armani dress was the talk of the red carpet.

Ahead of the show, she told PEOPLE of her dress, “I love the asymmetrical hemline. Having a cutout in the dress really felt edgy and fun.”

Speaking of Selena, the actress stole the show with her Gossip-Girl moment

Another Golden Globes moment we won’t forget was Selena Gomez’s gossip-girl moment with Taylor Swift and Keleigh Sperry. We all watched the Latina actress hug the singer to drop the tea of the night, which we explain here.

Lily Gladstone makes history

The “Killers of the Flower Moon” actress became the first star of Blackfeet and Nimiipuu descent to win a Golden Globe.

Gladstone starred alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro in Martin Scorsese’s film about the Osage Nation murders in the early 20th century.

Taking to the stage in an elegant white column dress and black cape to accept her award, Gladstone began her speech by speaking in Blackfeet.

She then said, in English: “I love everyone in this room right now, thank you. I don’t have words. I just spoke a bit of Blackfeet language, a beautiful community, a nation that raised me, that encouraged me to keep going, to keep doing this.”

All the faces of Jennifer Lawrence

If Jennifer Lawrence is in the room, we know we’re in for silly giggles and laughs.

Like when she told the camera, “If I don’t win, I’m leaving,” during her category. Or how, almost immediately, she celebrated her colleague Emma Stone’s win.

When Yvonne McGuinness’ smooches received the award for Best Male Actor

We all know Cillian Murphy is a great actor. But despite his talent in the celebrated “Oppenheimer,” it was the affection of his wife, Yvonne McGuinness, who really took home the award. Her husband took the stage to receive the award for Best Male Actor full of lipstick, eliciting a collective “Aw.”

Finally, Gillian Anderson’s dress

The Sex Education star hit the 2024 Golden Globes red carpet in a custom ivory strapless gown by Gabriela Hearst. The details? Dozens of embroidered vaginas.

“[I wore it] for so many reasons,” the actress told Deadline of the female anatomy design, adding, “It’s brand appropriate.”

In addition, Anderson gave us an iconic moment in her Instagram stories. The actress shared a photo with the kitchen workers, whom she called “the real stars of the evening.”
