Reggaeton Pilates? Sign Me Up, Mami!
Picture this: You’re deep in a Pilates flow, muscles burning, core engaged—when boom, Bad Bunny drops. Suddenly, you’re not just holding a plank; you’re moving with the rhythm, hips swaying like you’re in a perreo battle. Welcome to The LiLA Society’s Reggaeton Pilates, where breaking a sweat meets breaking it down, and Latinas are reclaiming their wellness journey one body roll at a time.

Reggaeton Pilates and The Rise of Culturally Rooted Fitness Classes
Let’s be real—traditional fitness spaces can sometimes feel, well, meh. Too clinical, too serious, and let’s not even get started on the generic playlists (IYKYK). But wellness is evolving, and Latinas are showing up for workouts that don’t just sculpt their bodies but also honor their culture. From salsa-infused dance cardio to cumbia cycling, culturally rooted fitness classes are booming. And for good reason. When you mix movement with music that feels like home, it just hits different.
That’s exactly what Kendra Gonzalez Duran, the founder of The LiLA Society, set out to create—a space where Latinas could move, connect, and blast reggaeton without side-eyes from an instructor who insists on planking to Taylor Swift.
“I wanted a place where we could actually feel seen,” Kendra shares. “Somewhere to move our bodies, make real connections, and celebrate who we are—loudly, proudly, and with the best perreo playlist imaginable.”

The Reggaeton Pilates Experience: A Workout and a Vibe
So what’s it like to take a Reggaeton Pilates class? Think slow, controlled movements that build core strength, paired with high-energy beats that make you want to drop it low (with proper form, of course). But beyond the killer workout, it’s the community that sets The LiLA Society apart.
“We intentionally keep classes small—about 15-20 people—to create a more intimate, welcoming space,” Kendra explains. “We start with an icebreaker, sip tea post-class, and even raffle off fun goodies from Latina-owned brands.”
And yes, theme nights are a thing. Their last class was a DTMF (Don’t Text Me, Mami)- themed workout, complete with instant cameras and vibey decor. Because, why just work out when you can turn it into a full-on event?

Why This Movement Matters
Beyond the fire playlists and post-class chisme sessions, Reggaeton Pilates is changing the game for Latinas in wellness. Many attendees are stepping into a fitness class for the first time—and doing it in a space where they feel safe, supported, and seen.
“Trying something new can feel intimidating,” Kendra acknowledges. “That’s why we create an environment where you’re likely to meet someone who shares your background and your music taste and will cheer you on every step of the way.”
The results? Confidence, connection, and a whole lot of strong, empowered Latina baddies.

The Bigger Picture: Movement as a Form of Resistance
Western ideals have long dominated fitness, but Latinas are reclaiming space—and reshaping what wellness looks like. The LiLA Society isn’t just about workouts; it’s about shifting the narrative and proving that Latinas aren’t an ‘alternative’ audience in fitness—we are the audience.
In just a few months, the LiLA Society has expanded beyond Pilates, launching The Latina Baddie Run Club, wellness workshops, and even fundraising initiatives—like the Latinas for a Cause Pilates class, which raised $3K for Latino families impacted by the Altadena Fires.
What’s Next for The LiLA Society?
Kendra has big dreams: “In five years, I see The LiLA Society as the go-to wellness community for Latinas across the U.S. We’re already expanding to San Diego and Orange County and looking for partners in new cities. This is just the beginning.”
And for those outside LA? Virtual classes are on the horizon—because every Latina deserves a space where movement feels like home.
The Takeaway: Reggaeton Pilates is More Than a Workout
If you’re looking for a workout that challenges you physically, feeds your soul, and surrounds you with mujeres who get it, Reggaeton Pilates is calling your name, mami. Whether you’re a Pilates pro or a total newbie, there’s a spot for you on the mat (and on the dance floor afterward).
Because wellness should feel like community, culture, and one hell of a playlist. And at The LiLA Society, that’s exactly what you’ll find.
